A new opioid recovery clinic will open in Port Angeles, Washington, before the end of summer 2019. The Peninsula Daily News reports that BayMark Health Services has leased a location in the area for a clinic to help patients overcome opioid addiction, planning to treat 200 patients within the next five years. However, this new Port Angeles location will be the only methadone clinic in the area. Methadone treatment is just one option out of many at the future clinic, which will offer individual and group counseling, Suboxone treatment, and Vivitrol treatment. Tom Schwalie, vice president of development, anticipates that the majority of patients treated at the Port Angeles location will receive methadone as part of their program, but stresses that exact treatments will be carefully determined by doctors on a patient-by-patient basis.
Not only is BayMark planning a methadone clinic in Port Angeles, but will also open another clinic in Bremerton that will offer similar services. The Bremerton opioid clinic plans to treat 350 patients over the next five years.
